Who and What is the VIA?
The Village Improvement Association (VIA) is an all-volunteer organization of Irvington residents who work together to make our village an even better place to live.
Our goal is to work hard and have fun serving the community and offering an enriched quality of life for our residents, friends, neighbors, and visitors in Irvington, Virginia. We aim to unite the community through annual events such as our Farmers Markets, Car Boot Sales, USAF Concerts, Parades, Halloween Trunk or Treat, and the amazing Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot.
The Village Improvement Association has been around for many decades and has volunteered tirelessly to improve Irvington's overall beauty, ambiance, character, and cultural vitality. Throughout the Village of Irvington, we have functioned as a resource for volunteerism in support of the VIA mission and goals.
ALL the VIA Events are organized and managed by the dedicated volunteers of the Village Improvement Association. We extend a special thank you to all the vendors, guests, sponsors, and volunteers from our local community who continue to help make so many Irvington VIA Events a great success, year after year. Thank you so much!

EVENTS ORGANIZED, HOSTED & SPONSORED BY THE VIA
Held on the first Saturday of each month, May to November. Consistently named Best Farmers Market in Eastern VA. Featuring 80+ vendors of high-quality produce, food, artwork, and crafts. Live music, a fun playground, and plenty of free parking.... this market is a "can't miss community event."
Car Boot Sale
The Car Boot Sale is held annually in May. This event is always a great deal (pun intended) of fun as we move from spring into summer! Think Saturday Flea Market or Junk in the Trunk Sale. Everything must go! Vendors show up, pay a $10 sellers fee, then set up, and sell. Buyers explore all the goods displayed in and around the participating car "boots" and walk away with real steals, er um.... deals!
US Air Force Band Concerts
The thrilling United States Air Force Heritage of America Band or their fabulous Rhythm in Blue Jazz Band performs annually. These outstanding concerts, held on the Historic Irvington Commons, are free and open to the community, courtesy of the VIA. Bring chairs, blankets, and picnics.
Halloween Trunk or Treat
October 31st brings ghosts, ghouls, goblins, witches, princesses, superheroes, and all types of wild costumes to the Irvington Commons. Irving the Pumpkin will be there to welcome everybody and the VIA will be handing out goodies. It’s an exciting, fun-filled annual event.
Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot
The Turkey Trot is a run/walk through the historic Village of Irvington. A “must-do” event for the entire family over the Thanksgiving holiday. The annual Turkey Trot is organized by the dedicated volunteers of the Village Improvement Association.
